Title: Las Vegas
Preparation: We had booked the hotel through priceline. Last year my friend and her husband also visited Las Vegas for 4 days, 3 nights in December. They booked the package in Costco Travel. They got a good deal, both adult flights plus 3 nights at a hotel for about $800, from Bay Area to Las Vegas. The hotel was good but there were no water or coffee in the room. We lived in Circus Circus. See more details in Lodge section.
Attractions and activities: 1. Caesar's Palace and its surroundings: Shopping areas, Casino, shows, nice restaurants. Really pretty place. Do not miss the Roman Plaza, the man-made blue sky ceilings, beautiful night views. 2. The Mirage Vocalno Shows: 7pm, 8 pm. Only 6 minutes show but great. 3. Fremont Street Experience: a pedestrian mall and attraction in Downtown Las Vegas with a canopy like sky ceiling, light shows. 4. Chocolate Factory, not worth it if you have tight time schedule. 4. Atomic Testing lab: can ignore it if do not have time. $20 /Adult, Kids: half price. Good to know Nevada Nuclear Weapon test history. But if you have tight time schedule, you can pass this.
Dining: When we visited the Atomic Testing lab, around there, in the opposite side of the E. Flamingo Rd, there are Indian, Chinese, Mediterran restaurants. We ate at Mr. Beijing. The food was good. We also went to the Abertson grocery Store to buy fresh fruits. The apple we bought there were tasted really good. We ate once in the buffet in Circus Circus and was not great. The adult price about $25, Kids about $13.
Commute: There are parking garages and most of them which are close to or in Casinos are free. Not too hard to find parking.
Lodge: Stayed in Circus Circus. Booked through priceline. The price is cheaper than directly book through the hotel itself. But be careful with the refund policy. We had cancelled one night but did not get any refund. Be aware, in this hotel, there is no hot water or coffee machine you can use in the room which I do not like it. In the first floor or downstairs, there are many Casinos, smoking areas which I do not think it's appropriate for the young kids to go through those places. We watch some circus acrobat shows there.
Things I wish I had known before: I wish I had done some research before we went to Las Vegas and could spend more time in shopping, eating, sight-seeing in the beautiful Caesar's Palace and its surrounding areas. There are so many sculptures, buildings, squares which gave guests a sense of life during the Roman Empire. Do not miss the spectacular man-made blue sky.
